Chokhmah sits near the top of the Tree, at the head of the right-hand Pillar of Mercy. It receives directly from Keter above and pairs with Binah across from it, the two forming the first polarity of active and receptive. As the top of the right pillar, it represents the force of expansion and outward flow. It stands as the father to Binah's mother in the imagery of the tree.
Spiritually Chokhmah represents pure wisdom and the intuitive flash that arrives whole, before the mind analyses it. It is the creative impulse of the divine, the will of Keter set into motion. Contact with Chokhmah is experienced as sudden revelation, an idea or truth that appears complete and self-evident. It teaches that the deepest wisdom comes as a gift, not a conclusion.
