Buddhi Mudra — Meaning & How to Practice

Mudra of Intuition · The gesture of clarity — opening the channel of inner knowing

What is Buddhi Mudra?

Buddhi mudra — the mudra of intellect or intuitive clarity — touches the tip of the little finger to the tip of the thumb, index, middle and ring fingers extended. Buddhi is the yogic name for the discerning faculty: the clear inner knowing that stands behind thought. Joining the water finger to the thumb of fire, the gesture is said to open fluid communication between the conscious mind and the intuitive depths — clarifying dreams, sharpening subtle perception, and lending words to what is usually only felt. It is the mudra of the clear channel.

Benefits

Best Time to Practice

Buddhi mudra works best at the day's thresholds of consciousness — just after waking, to catch dreams before they fade, and before sleep, meditation or divination. Hold it 10–15 minutes, or briefly before any moment that asks for inner clarity: the decision, the reading, the honest conversation.
