Prana mudra — the mudra of the life force — touches the tips of the ring and little fingers together to the tip of the thumb, index and middle fingers extended. Uniting the earth and water fingers with the fire of the thumb, it is said to awaken and circulate prana, the vital current itself: the master energiser among mudras. Tradition credits it with rousing dormant vitality, brightening the eyes, and steadying the flicker of a tired system. It is the gesture of the battery reconnected.
Practise prana mudra in the morning to charge the day, or in energy dips — 15–20 minutes, seated or standing. It suits convalescence, burnout recovery and any season of depletion; combined with slow deep breathing it becomes a complete vitality practice on its own.
Each mudra tunes a current in the body's energy map. Explore the seven chakras that map guides.
